Project Overview
Danby Interiors was commissioned to create a modern, handleless kitchen within a spacious living area in Linton, Wetherby.
The client requested a design that balanced contemporary aesthetics with practical functionality, providing ample space for social gatherings and efficient flow throughout the kitchen and adjoining dining area.
Initial Design Concept
The design process began with plans for a tall bank of units, seamlessly housing ovens, refrigeration, and a dedicated wine cooler.
A recessed wall was also introduced, neatly dividing the kitchen from the formal dining room. This separation provided a designated dishwashing area, complete with storage for everyday items, tea, coffee, and a Quooker Flex boiling water tap for convenience.
In considering room orientation and interaction between cooking and entertaining spaces, we proposed twin islands: one equipped with a hob and preparation bowl and the other clear, offering generous storage and social seating.
This layout facilitated both cooking and socialising within the open-plan space.
Innovative Storage and Lighting Solutions
The island’s worktop features S-Box pop-up sockets, discreetly integrated to keep the workspace clutter-free and cater to the client’s power needs.
Bespoke lighting by LiteSolutions, complete with remote control functionality, enhances the kitchen’s ambiance, providing both task and mood lighting options.

Adaptive Design and Final Layout
As construction progressed, evolving priorities led us to adjust the layout to align with outdoor seating and furnishings within the living space. This inspired a T-shaped island that preserved storage, work surfaces, and seating for up to eight, while promoting smoother movement and a more cohesive flow within the kitchen area.
Finishing Touches and Materials Selection
We collaborated closely with the client to select materials that balanced elegance and durability. Fenix doors by Doimo were chosen for their resilience and sophisticated colours, while the island surfaces featured Dekton Lunar, and Dekton Orix was selected for the sink area and backsplash. To maintain consistency, the same Orix finish was extended to the dining area, creating visual harmony.
Appliances and Technology
The kitchen was equipped with Siemens Studioline appliances, known for their advanced functionality and sleek design. For cooking versatility, we incorporated Bora Classic induction hobs, providing six flexible cooking zones with an integrated downdraft extraction system. Liebherr’s larder fridge, tall freezer, and wine cooler offer ample, efficient refrigeration solutions, while a Quooker Flex tap meets the client’s need for instant boiling water.
Client Outcome
The final kitchen design merges form and function seamlessly, offering a highly functional cooking area that flows beautifully into a social space. This adaptable, modern kitchen has transformed the client’s large living space, providing a sophisticated yet durable solution that meets every requirement for both everyday living and entertaining.
