Home Bar Ideas
ENTERTAIN GUESTS AND ENJOY DRINKS IN STYLE WITH A BAR IN YOUR HOME
Why home bars are popular
In an era where the cost of living in the UK has reached unprecedented levels, the allure of crafting a personal retreat within one’s own home has become more appealing than ever. This inclination towards home-based leisure activities has significantly boosted interest in home bar ideas, a trend that not only elevates home entertainment but also emerges as a judicious investment against the backdrop of escalating costs associated with social outings. The persisting aftereffects of the pandemic, coupled with economic strains witnessed over the past 18 months, have underscored the value of such investments in home enhancements.
Recent reports suggest that a third of office workers have persisted with remote working arrangements since the pandemic, catalysing a rise in home improvement endeavours across the UK, not least in the realm of creating versatile and chic home offices. Yet, the scope of these projects extends beyond workspaces; from kitchens and bedrooms to gaming rooms and bars, homeowners are eager to derive more value from their living spaces with designs that not only mirror contemporary trends but also align with their personal lifestyle requisites.
In this article, we shine a light on a particular project that encapsulates the essence of modern home bar ideas. Additionally, we offer practical advice for those considering embarking on a similar journey to transform their living space, ensuring that the end result is not only aesthetically pleasing but perfectly attuned to their entertainment preferences.
Benefits of a home bar
Having a home bar can bring many benefits. It provides a convenient and comfortable space to entertain guests and enjoy drinks without having to leave the house. It also allows for customisation and personalisation, as you can design the bar to fit your style with the functional preferences and get the perfect ambience you desire.
Imagine owning a bar that always has your favourite drinks on tap, no long queuing, your favourite music and opening hours to suit. All this and the best prices around!
Home Bar Design Features
Here’s a video of a recent bar design we did. Featuring Caledonia black anthracite doors and Dekton Laurent Natural Worktops. Inspired by the natural stone Port Laurent, the striking colour-way features a dramatic dark brown background crisscrossed with veins of gold.
The backlit quartz shelving adds an extra pop to the design. The lighting can be set from cool to warm by remote control or by Alexa. Additional appliances include: NEFF fridge, freezer, 1810 sink and Blanco tap with pull-out hose & integrated bin units. Marvellous…
Have some fun with your bar design
If you are looking for something fun and lively, consider playful or vibrant colours to really set the scene. In our design the backlit quartz shelving is the perfect focal point, especially in the evenings.
Displaying your favourite tipples on the shelves adds visual interest to the wall, as so many bottles are mini works of art in their own right. You can also turn your drinkware into decor by displaying wine glasses or spirit glasses.
If you take cocktail-making seriously, consider a bar tool set stylish enough to display on your home bar and maybe a complementing fruit bowl with lemons, limes, and oranges, the key ingredients in a bunch of classic cocktails.
You’ll thank yourself for the investment the next time you need a bottle opener, a shot glass, or a cocktail shaker, or a guest asks you for their favourite drink.
Bar Design Considerations
Here’s a list of items you may want to consider for your perfect home bar.
- What style are you going for? Sleek, farmhouse, American, retro, lounge, poolside, mid-century, disco. Nail your style first, then consider complimenting products and accessories.
- Keep it cool with a built in wine or beer fridge. Superbly functional and aesthetically impressive to look at.
- Cocktail making books can double as decor by dressing up your shelves and guests can flip through as you make your next masterpiece.
- Drinks taste that much better on comfy seating; consider a couple of comfy armchairs with a few plush pillows in addition to bar stools.
- Wall mount a TV behind the bar to showcase your favourite sporting events, music videos or other content to enjoy with friends. Prefer it cozy? Flip on that log fireplace video.
- If you have the countertop space a sink is very useful in a bar area to save on trips to the kitchen.
